Kindergarten Book Exchange
Our FDK students were given library bags in September for the transportation of their library books. Please ensure that your child always returns their library book in their library bag. This will ensure that our library books remain safe, away from food, water and/or pets. Keeping our library books in a safe place will help lengthen the life of our books. The library bag acts as your child's library card. Both their library bag and library book must be returned each week on their designated library day in order for your child to borrow a new book. If your child has their book for longer than two weeks, a late slip will be sent home with your child. If a book is lost, we request that you pay for the replacement fee. Your child can only exchange or return their library books during their designated library time.
Grade 1 – 8 Book Exchange
All students are given the opportunity each week to visit the library for a book exchange period. Students are able to borrow a book for two weeks at a time. If a student would like their book for longer than two weeks, they must re-new their book to avoid receiving a late slip. If a book is lost, we request that you pay for the replacement. Your child can only exchange or return their library books during their designated library time. Please do not drop off your child's library book in the office. When students visit the library, they are encouraged to choose a book that appeals to their interests, in order to develop a love of reading. Grade 4–8 students can borrow up to 2 books each week. In order to help promote reading success, we encourage you to participate in your child's reading through modeling, listening to your child read and to consistently celebrate the joy of reading.
Volunteers
A special thank you to our dedicated junior students who often volunteer their recess times to help in the library. These students give up their own time to ensure our library is always well organized. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated and noticed by many.
Library Book Donations
Thank you to all the families who generously donated new and/or gently used books for our school library collection. Please know that through your donations of books you have provided our school library with more valuable pieces of information and enjoyable reading materials for our students. If you are in the process of fall cleaning and you come across any new or gently used books that you would like to donate to our school library, please send them in with your child. Your support for our school library collection is greatly appreciated.
